2021-22 Premier League: Week 36 – Tottenham vs Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Arsenal to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a crunch rearranged North London derby.

Victory would see Tottenham stay fifth but move to within a point of fourth-placed Arsenal, whereas Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will stay fourth with a win and end Spurs’ challenge for a top-four finish.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool as Matt Doherty, Japhet Tanganga (both knee), Sergio Reguilon and Oliver Skipp (both groin) remain ruled out.

Arsenal could welcome Ben White back into contention after he missed their last two matches against West Ham and Leeds respectively with a muscle injury.

Bukayo Saka (knock) is a doubt but Kieran Tierney (knee) and Thomas Partey (thigh) both remain absent.

Prediction

Heading to Anfield looked a daunting task for Tottenham on Saturday yet Antonio Conte’s men produced a stubborn defensive display, whilst also creating strong attacking chances to force an unexpected lead but poor gap closure cost them the win.

Arsenal meanwhile were clinical in punishing a lacklustre Leeds defence in the opening 10 minutes which proved the difference to clinch the win amidst a dominant attacking performance, having thereafter wasted many chances through inaccuracy whilst their defensive vulnerability remains a concern.

Now if Arsenal turn up and play like they did on Sunday, Tottenham would be wise to deploy the same tactics but they must win to keep their top four hopes yet I just can’t see that happening if the Gunners are at their best.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal

Result: Tottenham 3-0 Arsenal
