Federico Malvestiti has returned to FIA F3 with Jenzer Motorsport for the remainder of the 2022 season.

Niko Kari departed the team after just one round with Malvestiti having replaced the Finnish driver initially for both in-season tests, which has now been confirmed as a permanent drive for the remainder of the 2022 F3 season.

This announcement also sees Malvestiti reunite with Jenzer after previously driving for the team in 2019 British round and entirety of 2020 season, in which he failed to score a single point with a best-placed finish of 13th in 2020 Hungarian Feature and British Sprint Races.

Speaking about his return to Jenzer after spending last season racing in Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, Malvestiti said: “I am very happy to be back with my “old” team at such a prestigious championship. After switching to GT cars for a year and a half, I’m happy to be back in the Formula category.”

Malvestiti proceeded to thank Jenzer for providing him with a “great opportunity” that he had not expected for this season, as he vowed to “work well with the team and achieve the best possible result.”

Team Founder and Principal, Andreas Jenzer added that he is happy to welcome the 21 year-old Italian back and described the decision as “very motivating” for the entire team, whilst admitting that this move wasn’t “originally planned.”

Malvestiti will now race alongside William Alatalo and Ido Cohen for the remainder of the season, beginning with the second round at Imola across 22-24 April before visiting Barcelona, Silverstone, Red Bull Ring, Hungaroring, Spa Francorchamps, Zandvoort and Monza across the campaign.
