English Football League have announced the shortlists for various categories at 2022 EFL Awards, which takes place on Sunday 24 April 2022.
Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Harry Wilson will go head-to-head for the biggest award – Championship Player of 2021-22 season, after netting 48 goals and 21 assists in total between them.
Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke will complete the three-man shortlist after netting 24 goals and providing six assists for the Cherries so far this season.
Barry Bannan, Michael Smith and Scott Twine of Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and MK Dons respectively will meanwhile battle for the 2021-22 League One Player of Season honour.
Forest Green Rovers’ Matty Stevens and Kane Wilson are both in contention for the 2021-22 League Two Player of Season award, with Newport County’s Dominic Telford completing the shortlist.
EFL meanwhile have split the Young Player of the Season award into three separate categories in order to recognise the young talent within all three divisions, with Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence up for Championship Young Player of Season alongside Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho.
Portsmouth goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu headlines the League One Young Player of Season nominees alongside Fleetwood Town’s Paddy Lane and Sunderland’s Dan Neil.
Finn, Azaz, Shadrach Ogie and Connor Taylor will contest the League Two Young Player of Season award, after impressing for Newport, Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers respectively.
Amongst the various club nominated awards, Preston North End have picked up two individual nominations in Community Project of the Year and Diversity categories.
The winners of the following awards will be announced during the ceremony with no official shortlist released in advance;
