Norwich City welcome Burnley to Carrow Road in a relegation six-pointer showdown as both teams chase Premier League survival.
Victory would see Norwich move to within seven points of safety but stay rock-bottom, whereas Burnley can reduce their deficit towards safety back down to a single point with a win.
Team News
Ozan Kabak is ruled out for Norwich with a hamstring injury suffered on international duty for Turkey, which has forced the defender to return to his parent club, Schalke for further treatment.
Przemyslaw Placheta (ankle), Max Aarons, Lukas Rupp (both thigh) and Brandon Williams (unspecified) are doubts and will face late fitness tests.
Josh Sargent (ankle), Andrew Omobamidele (back) and Adam Idah (knee) remain absent.
Burnley have no fresh injury concerns to report after Wednesday’s victory over Everton as Ben Mee (knock), Erik Pieters (knee) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Norwich are yet to beat Burnley in the Premier League after three previous meetings (D1, L2).
- Burnley won 2-0 in their only previous Premier League visit to Carrow Road in July 2020 (W1).
- Sean Dyche’s Clarets are yet to concede against Norwich in the Premier League.
- Norwich have conceded ten goals in their last three home matches (L3).
- Josh Brownhill has been yellow carded in three of his last four away appearances for Burnley, with two of his three bookings coming in the 30th minute.
Prediction
With one less game in hand than Burnley and a 10-point gap towards safety, this is an absolute must-win for Norwich if they’re to stand any chance of survival although huge improvements are needed after rarely attacking at Brighton despite defending well last weekend.
Sean Dyche’s Clarets meanwhile know that a great escape is on if they can put a strong run-in together and this is a winnable game, particularly if they turn up and play the same attacking football which beat Everton in midweek but with better defending.
Sean Dyche’s Clarets also are yet to lose to Norwich in the Premier League so should be full of confidence, especially knowing that the Canaries have conceded ten goals in their last three home matches so the opportunity is there to put survival in their own hands with a win.
Prediction: Norwich 0-2 Burnley
Result: Norwich 2-0 Burnley
