BBC and ITV Announce Broadcast Picks For 2022 FIFA World Cup Group Stage

BBC will televise two of England’s three group matches as both BBC and ITV announce their picks for the group stage of 2022 FIFA World Cup.

BBC will kick off their World Cup coverage with the tournament-opener between Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday 20 November, with the match commencing at 4pm GMT UK Time

BBC will also transmit England’s Group B clash against Iran at 1pm GMT on Monday 21 November.

The Three Lions’ final group match against Wales will be televised live on BBC on Tuesday 29 November, live from 7pm GMT.

BBC will also televise Iran’s clash against Wales on Friday 25 November at 10am GMT, with Qatar’s Group A match against Senegal following at 1pm GMT in a double-header that day.

Other selected highlight matches on BBC across the Group Stage include the following matches;

• Mexico v Poland (22 November, 4pm)
• Brazil v Serbia (24 November, 7pm)
• Spain v Germany (27 November, 7pm)
• Poland v Argentina (30 November, 7pm)
• Croatia v Belgium (1 December, 4pm)

ITV meanwhile will commence their coverage with the opening match between Senegal and Netherlands in Group A at 4pm on Monday 21 November.

Wales’ first World Cup match since 1958 after defeating Ukraine in their Play-Off Final will be broadcast on ITV, as Rob Page’s Welsh Dragons face USA on 21 November at 7pm GMT with the broadcaster also airing England’s clash against USA on 25 November in the same timeslot.

ITV will also have the first two picks in Round of 16 plus first pick of Quarter-Finals, whilst BBC hold the first pick for the semi-finals.

ITV have also confirmed plans to stream their matches on their new free streaming service, ITVX which will launch in the Autumn, as well as on STV Player.
