Formula One has announced the addition of ‘Las Vegas Grand Prix’ in Las Vegas, USA, to the 2023 race calendar.
The race will take place on a Saturday evening local time in November 2023 on the infamous Las Vegas Strip, against the backdrop of famous landmarks, hotels and casinos.
F1 will consequently run a Thursday – Saturday programme local time that weekend for the first time since 1985, in order to ensure that the race is broadcast worldwide largely on its traditional day – Sunday across European, Asian and Oceanian audiences.
The track design has been confirmed as 3.8 miles (6.12km) long featuring three main straights plus 14 corners, with top speeds set to reach over 212 mph, whilst the race will be held across 50 laps.
Liberty Media who own F1 issued a statement on this announcement as President and CEO, Greg Maffei described Las Vegas and F1 as “… the perfect marriage of speed and glamour.”
Maffei also confirmed that Liberty Media will partner with Live Nation Entertainment to promote the race as well as the following local partners also involved in promoting the “marquee event”;

- MGM Resorts International
- Wynn Las Vegas and Presenting Partners MSG Sphere
- Resorts World Las Vegas
- The Venetian Resort.
F1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali meanwhile hailed the trip to Las Vegas as “an incredible moment” for the sport, with the Las Vegas GP becoming the third race in USA next season alongside visits to Miami and Texas for Miami and US Grands Prix respectively.
Acknowledging the infamous Strip and entertainment in Las Vegas, Domenicali added: “Las Vegas is a destination known around the world for its excitement, hospitality, thrills, and of course, the famous Strip.
“There is no better place for Formula 1 to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year.”
F1 has previously raced in Las Vegas before under the ‘Caesars Palace Grand Prix’ between 1981-82 with Alan Jones and Michele Alboreto winning once each.
