Wolves welcome Leeds United to Molineux in Friday Night Football as both teams chase European qualification and survival respectively.
Victory will see Wolves climb to sixth in the table, whereas Leeds will stay 16th with a win but move seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Team News
Hee-Chan Hwang is a doubt for Wolves due to a dead leg and will face a late fitness test.
Pedro Neto is ruled out with a foot injury and joins Ki-Jana Hoever plus Nelson Semedo (both hamstring) on sidelines.
Leeds could be without Rodrigo as he looks to recover from a quad injury.
Lewis Bate, Jamie Shackleton (both knock) and Joe Gelhardt (back) are also considered doubts and will face late fitness tests.
Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Tyler Roberts (all hamstring), Junior Firpo and Leo Fuhr (both knee) remains absent.
Stat Attack
- Wolves are unbeaten in four of five Premier League meetings against Leeds (W3, D1, L1).
- Leeds have lost both of their two previous Premier League visits to Molineux (L2).
- Wolves have scored first in each of their last six meetings against Leeds (W5, D1).
- Romain Saiss has won more aerial duels than any other Wolves player in the Premier League this season, having won 68 aerial duels in 27 league appearances.
- Two of Leeds’ last four league goals have been scored by Rodrigo.
Prediction
Now that they’re right back in the mix for European qualification, Wolves surely know that a win here would put pressure on their rivals heading into the international break.
Bruno Lage’s side also can come into this game full of confidence after snatching a clinical win at Everton last weekend, despite wasting numerous opportunities from strong attacking play through lack of awareness of their own teammates in good positions to finish chances.
Leeds meanwhile delivered a fierce victory over Norwich in which they looked energetic with confidence on attack, whilst defending well despite a small marking error briefly allowing Norwich to level yet they showed grit to steal a late winner.
Jesse Marsch’s Whites though are only four points above the drop so I expect them to come here looking for another strong performance, yet their record in this Premier League fixture isn’t exactly impressive so a good defensive effort will be vital.
I however fancy Wolves to win this if they can deliver another excellent but more clinical display, although Leeds should make a difficult battle across 90 minutes.
Prediction: Wolves 1-0 Leeds
Result: Wolves 2-3 Leeds
