2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 36 – Sunday

Luton Town welcome QPR to Kenilworth Road in a high-noon showdown in the race for the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

Victory would see Luton climb to fourth in the table, whereas QPR can leapfrog their hosts with a win and themselves go fourth.

Gabriel Osho is again ruled out for Luton with a hamstring injury which forced him to miss Tuesday’s win at Coventry.

Sonny Bradley (hernia) remains ruled out.

QPR have no fresh injury concerns to report as Jordan Archer (shoulder), Dion Sanderson (suspension) and Seny Dieng (thigh) remain absent.

Stat Attack

  • Luton have claimed just four points from nine Championship meetings against QPR (W1, D1, L7).
  • QPR are unbeaten in four Championship visits to Kenilworth Road (W2, D1, L1).
  • Mark Warburton’s Hoops have won two of their last three meetings against Luton by a 2-0 result, with the only exception being a 3-1 home win in May 2021.
  • Four of Luton’s last five goals scored at home in the Championship have been netted after half-time.
  • QPR have conceded four goals in their last three away matches without scoring in reply.

Prediction

Having suffered two consecutive defeats in all competitions heading into Tuesday’s trip to Coventry, Luton’s season could of begun to unravel yet they showed great defensive spirit to dig in and force a clinical winner, which is important coming into this must-win clash for their play-off ambition.

QPR meanwhile have good form against Luton but having claimed four points from their last six games and failed to score in their last three away matches, something huge will be required here if they’re to stop their rot and get right back in the play-off mix.

I am therefore expecting a tough battle but if Luton start like they did in their last home game, I can see them going on to get the win but should QPR tighten up and sort out their away scoring issues, this could go either way.

Prediction: Luton 2-1 QPR

Result: Luton 1-2 QPR
