2021-22 Premier League: Week 29 – Brentford vs Burnley

Brentford welcome Burnley to Brentford Community Stadium in a crunch showdown in the race for Premier League survival.

Victory would see Thomas Frank’s Bees move nine points clear of the relegation zone but stay 15th, whereas Burnley can climb to 16th with a win.

Christian Norgaard is a doubt for Brentford as he recovers from a minor knock.

Kristoffer Ajer (knock) is another doubt but Josh Dasilva (suspension), Tarique Fosu (hamstring) and Julian Jeanvier (knee) remain absent.

Burnley will be without Ben Mee after suffering a knock to his fibula.

Dale Stephens (thigh) is a doubt but Erik Pieters (knee), Matej Vydra (elbow) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf) remain absent.

Prediction

After experiencing a difficult rut since the turn of 2022, Brentford seemed back to their best last weekend at Norwich because they were clinical and organised across the pitch despite moments of shaky movement but they now to build on that performance with another win here.

The phrase – ‘a game of two halves’ meanwhile summed up Burnley’s display against Chelsea because they were fantastic in the first half, yet defensively imploded in the second half with lacklustre defending and disappointing goalkeeping so a huge improvement is required here.

This clash is also a six-pointer which could be crucial in terms of the fight for survival so we either will see a cagey contest or an attacking battle, although I feel that it will be more of the latter if Brentford play like they did last week and Burnley don’t improve without Mee’s presence.

Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Burnley

Result: Brentford 2-0 Burnley
