2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 36 – Friday

West Bromwich Albion welcome Huddersfield Town to The Hawthorns in Friday Night Football in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victory would see West Brom climb to 11th in the table, whereas a win would see Huddersfield regain second until at least Saturday teatime.

Team News

Daryl Dike has resumed training for West Brom after recovering from a hamstring injury but won’t be risked until he is declared match fit by club doctors.

Kean Bryan (knee) and Matt Phillips (foot) remain absent.

Huddersfield could welcome Levi Colwill and Josh Koroma back into contention after the pair missed their last two matches through illness.

Lewis O’Brien (knee) is a doubt but Alex Vallejo, Rolando Aarons (both knee) and Ryan Schofield (shoulder) remains absent.

Stat Attack

  • West Brom have won just one of their last five league meetings against Huddersfield (W1, L4).
  • Huddersfield have claimed seven points from their last five visits to The Hawthorns (W2, D1, L2).
  • Both teams have scored in four of their last five meetings at The Hawthorns, with exception of a 1-0 win for Huddersfield in March 2000.
  • West Brom have kept just two clean sheets in six home matches in 2022 across all competitions (W1, D2, L3).
  • Each of Huddersfield’s last five away goals in all competitions have been scored before half-time.

Prediction

West Brom haven’t exactly been in decent form lately but last weekend’s win at Hull surely has to be a turning point, especially after delivering a clinical display despite getting outplayed in attack by Hull who were just more wasteful of their chances.

Huddersfield meanwhile played well at Nottingham Forest on Monday but were just outclassed in a classically competitive match, yet this is the perfect opportunity to hit back now that automatic promotion is their sole focus if they continue to play their best attacking football.

Another positive for the Terriers coming into this fixture is that they have solid form against West Brom so I am expecting them to come here fighting for the win, whereas West Brom will be eager to build on their display at Hull with another disciplined effort and win.

I though can’t see the Baggies getting much other than a draw at best given Huddersfield’s form at present, which has seen them lose just once in their last 19 matches across all competitions so the Terriers definitely will have a reaction lined up here.

Prediction: WBA 0-2 Huddersfield

Result: WBA 2-2 Huddersfield
