Burnley welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor in a huge Premier League clash at opposite ends of the table.
Victory could lift Burnley out of the relegation zone whereas a win would see Chelsea move closer towards consolidating third in the table.
Team News
Ben Mee is a doubt for Burnley after suffering a knock in the Clarets’ midweek loss to Leicester.
Erik Pieters (knee), Dale Stephens (thigh), Matej Vydra (hernia) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf) remain absent.
Chelsea could welcome Cesar Azpilicueta back after he missed Wednesday’s comeback FA Cup win at Luton with a knock.
Trevoh Chalobah (groin), Andreas Christiansen and Hakim Ziyech (both Achilles) are also doubtful but Ben Chilwell (knee) remains absent.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have claimed just two points from their last eight meetings against Chelsea (D2, L6).
- Chelsea have dropped only two points in their last seven visits to Turf Moor (W6, D1).
- Sean Dyche’s Clarets are yet to win a penalty in 15 previous Premier League meetings against Chelsea.
- Burnley have won just one of six home games in all competitions in 2022 (W1, D2, L3).
- Hakim Ziyech has scored in each of Chelsea’s last two away league games.
Prediction
After seeing their recently improved form halted in midweek after being limited to minimal chances by Leicester, Burnley really need a huge performance if they’re to hit back here and avoid the risk of sucking themselves back deeper into the relegation scrap.
Chelsea meanwhile were defensively lacklustre in the first half at Luton but were absolutely brilliant in the second-half, which is exactly how they should look to perform here but this is their third game in six days after going the distance in last Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final.
Fitness therefore surely will be a slight concern for Chelsea but given their form in this fixture, I fancy them to get a routine win if they start like they finished at Luton, otherwise Burnley will fancy their chances if are clinical enough.
Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Chelsea
Result: Burnley 0-4 Chelsea
