Tottenham Hotspur welcome Wolves to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a crunch clash in the race for European Football qualification.
Victory will see Tottenham stay seventh but move to within a point of the top four, whereas Wolves can leapfrog Spurs with a win and climb to seventh.
Team News
Eric Dier remains absent for Tottenham as he continues to recover from a knock which has forced him to miss their last two matches.
Oliver Skipp (groin) and Japhet Tanganga (hamstring) are also absent.
Wolves could be without Joao Moutinho due to a minor calf injury.
Hee-Chan Hwang (back) is a doubt but Pedro Neto (knee), Yerson Mosquera (hamstring) and Willy Boly (calf) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Wolves (W3, D1, L1).
- Wolves have won two of their last five league visits to Tottenham (W2, D1, L2).
- Spurs’ Harry Kane has scored in his last two appearances against Wolves across all competitions.
- Only Son Heung-min has scored from a free-kick for Tottenham in the Premier League this season.
- Coming into this matchweek, Wolves’ Jose Sa has made 21 sweeper clearances which is more than any other Premier League goalkeeper this season.
Prediction
After twice blowing one-goal leads against Southampton on Wednesday, Tottenham’s task here has to be to try and tighten up defensively especially on the flanks where they were exposed to maximum effect by the Saints.
Antonio Conte though also should be slightly concerned by how his team were sluggish in build-up of attacking moves at times, despite finding their clinical edge once they grew into the game because Wolves will be ready to punish mistakes if press hard enough.
Wolves however have lost their last two matches by 1-0 results from set pieces so Bruno Lage’s concern has to be sorting out his team’s defensive tactics during set pieces, especially if Spurs dominate but force corners instead of creating clear-cut chances.
I however am expecting a tight contest because Wolves will try and make life as hard as possible for Tottenham, but if Spurs score first then I fancy them to win this comfortably.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Wolves
Result: Tottenham 0-2 Wolves
