2021-22 Premier League: Week 22 – Norwich vs Everton

Norwich City continue to fight for Premier League survival as Everton visit Carrow Road.

If Newcastle lose elsewhere, Norwich can climb to 19th with victory whereas Everton will stay 15th with a win but can move further away from the relegation zone.

Todd Cantwell could return for Norwich after recovering from illness which forced him to miss the Canaries’ midweek league loss at West Ham.

Josh Sargent (personal) is also set to feature but Andrew Omobamidele (back), Christoph Zimmerman, Billy Gilmour (both ankle), Lukas Rupp (hamstring) and Mathias Normann (pelvis) remain absent.

Everton could welcome Dominic Calvert-Lewin back after he missed their extra-time win at Hull in the FA Cup last weekend, after suffering tight quadriceps on his return from injury against Brighton a fortnight ago.

Yerry Mina, Richarlison (both calf), Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Fabian Delph (illness) are also set to return.

Tom Davies (knee) and Alex Iwobi (international duty) are ruled out.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Defending has been Norwich’s biggest weakness in the league this season so it is no surprise that many expected them to lose at Charlton in the FA Cup last weekend, yet they were well disciplined and clinical which proved the difference.

Dean Smith though should be disappointed with how lacklustre his Canaries were in midweek at West Ham despite maintaining discipline, yet their attack reverted to their usual sloppiness but they need to hit back here to reignite their survival hopes.

Everton meanwhile are currently worse than Norwich defensively yet are much better in attack even if they did have to fight hard to win at Hull, with individual quality moments proving enough clinically which they need to build on here.

On that note, goals are a certainty here but I can see just one result coming unless Norwich can improve in attack.

Prediction: Norwich 1-2 Everton

Result: Norwich 2-1 Everton
