2021-22 Premier League: Week 17 – Brighton vs Wolves

Brighton & Hove Albion return to Premier League action as they welcome Wolves to the AMEX Stadium.

Victory would lift either Brighton or Wolves up to eighth in the table until Thursday evening at minimum.

Adam Lallana could return for Brighton if he passes a late fitness test after recovering from a thigh injury.

Leandro Trossard (elbow) and Joel Veltman (nose) are fit and available for selection but Shane Duffy (suspension), Jeremy Sarmiento, Danny Welbeck (both hamstring), Adam Webster (calf), Lewis Dunk (knee) and Steven Alzate (ankle) are ruled out.

Wolves will be without Raul Jimenez after the Mexican striker was red carded in Saturday’s loss at Manchester City.

Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee) and Yerson Mosquera (hamstring) remain absent.

Prediction

Having unintentionally had a week-and-a-half off following the postponement of their match at the weekend, Brighton hopefully have worked on their defensive ability to cope with high-energy movement of opponents after struggling in their draw at Southampton last time out.

Wolves meanwhile were outplayed at Man City on Saturday but they were most importantly defensively disciplined and frustrating to beat, whilst exciting when on the attack despite finding themselves unluckily denied by stubborn defending.

We though are drawing closer to a fast and furious run of fixtures so the team selections will be interesting but Brighton will be the fresher team here, which could prove the difference if they can sort out their finishing issues and get on the front foot in what should be a tight game.

Prediction: Brighton 1-0 Wolves

Result: Brighton 0-1 Wolves
