2021-22 Premier League: Week Ten – Liverpool vs Brighton

Liverpool look to continue their push for the title as Jurgen Klopp’s Reds welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield.

Should Chelsea slip up at Newcastle, victory would see Liverpool climb to the Premier League summit whereas Brighton can improve to fourth with a win until Sunday evening.

Caoimhin Kelleher is a doubt for Liverpool after illness kept him out of their midweek win over Preston in the Carabao Cup.

Naby Keita (foot) and Fabinho (knee) are both considered doubts after not being risked at Deepdale on Wednesday evening.

Thiago Alcantara (calf) is unlikely to be risked but James Milner (hamstring) and Harvey Elliott (ankle) are definitely ruled out.

Brighton could be without Dan Burn after the defender suffered a knee injury in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup exit to Leicester.

Taylor Richards (back) is a doubt and faces a late fitness test but Steven Alzate (ankle) and Danny Welbeck (hamstring) remain ruled out.

Prediction

There isn’t much to say about Liverpool other than they were simply clinical with such ruthless finishing at Manchester United last weekend, especially in how they stretched Utd’s defence to the right which is something that Brighton will need to be wary of here in their defensive positions.

Brighton though will certainly give Liverpool a difficult game because they were excellent in attack against Manchester City last weekend, despite their defence often getting caught out high up the pitch or outstretched which was again notable in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup loss at Leicester.

This game though feels like it’s Liverpool’s to lose but if Brighton can tighten up their defence and continue to pose strong attacking intent up front, I can see them making a scrap of this which sadly won’t yield a point in my opinion.

Prediction: Liverpool 4-1 Brighton

Result: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton
