2022 UEFA Women’s Euros host, England have been paired with tournament debuts, Northern Ireland in Group A following completion of draw for the tournament to be held in July 2022.
As tournament hosts, England have been placed in Group A where they will face Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland as they seek to escape the Group Stage for a second consecutive Euros tournament.
Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses will also host the opening match at Old Trafford, Manchester on Wednesday 6 July, where they will take on Austria before then facing Norway and tournament debutants – Northern Ireland in their two other Group A matches on 11 and 15 July respectively.
England’s clash against Norway will be held at the AMEX Stadium in Brighton whilst Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium will host the home nations derby clash against Northern Ireland.
2017 champions, Netherlands have been placed in Group C where they will face this summer’s Olympics silver medalists, Sweden as well as Russia and Switzerland, with their Group C matches taking place at Leigh Sport Village, Wigan, and Bramall Lane in Sheffield.
Eight-time title holders, Germany have been drawn in Group B alongside Denmark, Spain and Finland in what has been described as the Group of Death’ with only two spots in the knockout stages available.
Their Group B matches will be held at Stadium MK and Brentford Community Stadium in Milton Keynes and London respectively.
France will play in Group D alongside Italy, Belgium and Iceland with their games being played across Manchester City Academy Stadium and Rotherham’s New York Stadium.
The tournament will kick off on Wednesday 6 July 2022 at Old Trafford, Manchester, and conclude on Sunday 31 July with the Grand Final at Wembley Stadium, London although full timings are set to be unveiled in due course.
