2021-22 Premier League: Week Eight – Leicester vs Manchester United

Leicester City look to end a run of one win in seven matches in all competitions as Brendan Rogers’ Foxes welcome Manchester United to King Power Stadium.

If Wolves lose elsewhere, Leicester could climb to 11th in the standings whereas Man Utd could go top with a win if Man City and Liverpool both lose elsewhere.

Jonny Evans is a doubt for Leicester as he continues to struggle with a heel injury, which has limited him to just three appearances in all competitions this season.

Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring), James Justin (knee) and Wesley Fofana (leg) remain ruled out.

Man Utd could have Marcus Rashford in contention for his first start of the season, having missed their opening ten matches in all competitions with a shoulder injury.

Amad Diallo (thigh) could also be available for selection but Raphael Varane (groin) and Harry Maguire (calf) are ruled out.

Prediction

Having endured a rocky September, Leicester looked to have turned a corner at Crystal Palace with a clinical first-half display minus poor marking down the middle third, yet just seemed to defensively collapse which cannot happen here if they even want a point.

Man Utd meanwhile took a gamble in leaving Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench last time out which sadly failed to pay off,  because the starting eleven lacked sharpness or accuracy until Anthony Martial’s clinical strike whilst the defending was solid but struggled with Everton’s counter-attacks.

This though should be a test for both teams in what is their third meeting in 2021 with Leicester having won their two previous clashes, so I do expect a good contest but Utd should have the edge now Marcus Rashford is back and ready to cause trouble alongside Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Manchester United

Result: Leicester 4-2 Manchester United
