2021-22 Premier League: Week Five – Norwich vs Watford

Norwich City look for their first league win of the season as they welcome Watford to Carrow Road.

Victory could lift Norwich off the foot of the Premier League table although results elsewhere need to go in their favour, if Daniel Farke’s Canaries are to climb out of the relegation zone.

Watford meanwhile could climb as high as ninth with a win coupled with results elsewhere swinging in their favour.

Bali Mumba is set to return for Norwich after missing their last two matches with a knee injury.

Josh Sargent (hamstring) and Przemyslaw Placheta (fitness) are doubts but Sam Byram (hamstring), Christoph Zimmerman (ankle) and Dimitris Giannoulis (back) are ruled out.

Watford could welcome Ben Foster back after the veteran goalkeeper recovered from a hamstring injury.

Dan Gosling and Kiko Femenia (both fitness) could also return but Joao Pedro (knee) is still ruled out.

Prediction

Despite coming into this match still without a league win, Norwich can definitely be proud of their progress because they have been excellent in attack, even though they wasted numerous chances at Arsenal last weekend but defence still remains their downfall despite conceding just once last time out.

Watford meanwhile continue on a downward spiral after their strong opener last month with poor finishing and defensive errors again costing them, which need to be cut out if they’re to avoid a relegation scrap because they do have the quality to push for a comfortable mid-table finish.

This though feels like an early pivotal clash between the two promoted teams in the relegation scrap and a draw wouldn’t be a surprise, although I do have a feeling that Norwich will eye this as the ideal opportunity to get a win on the board.

Prediction: Norwich 1-0 Watford

Result: Norwich 1-3 Watford
