Norwich City have announced that Ozan Kabak has signed from Schalke on a season-long loan deal.

Kabak’s decision to join Norwich on loan marks a second consecutive loan stint for the Turkish defender in the Premier League, having spent the second-half of last season on loan at Liverpool where he made 13 appearances in all competitions

Kabak will wear the number 15 shirt this season and Norwich have an option to make the deal permanent at end of this season, depending on Kabak’s performances across the campaign.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk about his decision to join the club on loan this season, Kabak said: ” I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans and getting some points.”

The 21 year-old went on to praise manager, Daniel Farke, adding: “I spoke with the head coach and I’m really impressed by his project and what he said to me. I believe in him and his project.”

Kabak also spoke about his time in England’s top flight last season with Liverpool, saying: “I played in the Premier League last year and I really enjoyed it. So, I want to play again and that’s why I’m here. I want to play in the Premier League and to give something to the team.

Farke meanwhile is “delighted” to have secured Kabak’s services in a boost to his defensive options and described the Turkish defender as “a player full of potential with a great reputation.”

Acknowledging Kabak’s experience playing for top-quality clubs and Turkey’s National Team, Farke believes that these experiences “says a lot about his potential”, as well as “great character.”

Explaining what he hopes that Kabak can get out of his loan spell at Carrow Road, Farke added: “We want to help him reach his very best levels. We know he is capable to shine for us and improve a lot.”
