Premier League have unveiled the referee appointments for the opening round of fixtures in 2021-22 season.
Michael Oliver will take charge of the opening match as Brentford host Arsenal at Brentford Community Stadium in a cross-London derby, although this won’t be Oliver’s first trip to the Bees after having refereed their 3-1 loss to Leicester in Fourth Round of last season’s FA Cup.
Paul Tierney will take charge of Manchester United’s home tie against Leeds United, with the Red Devils unbeaten in their last nine matches under Tierney’s watch in all competitions.
Tottenham’s blockbuster clash against Premier League champions, Manchester City will be refereed by Anthony Taylor.
Elsewhere, Jonathan Moss will take charge of Chelsea’s opener as they host Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in a cross-London derby.
Craig Pawson will be the man in the middle for Leicester’s cross-Midlands derby clash against Wolves at the King Power Stadium, with the Foxes having won all of their four clashes under Pawson’s whistle last season.
Norwich’s first match back in the top-flight against Liverpool at Carrow Road will be refereed by Andre Marriner, who only took charge of a Canaries match just once in 2019-20 season which they lost 2-0 at home to Watford.
Watford’s return after an one-season absence against Aston Villa at Vicarage Road will be refereed by Mike Dean, having avoided defeat in just two of five matches under the 53 year-old’s watch during 2019-20 Premier League season.
