As Great Britain continue to reel from football failing to come home, it is time for Formula One to come home to Silverstone for the 2021 British Grand Prix, as we bring a guide to the weekend’s action.
Home favourites – Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and George Russell will all be looking to impress in a bid to lift the nation’s spirts, whilst title leader – Max Verstappen looks to continue his charge towards a first F1 crown after dominating the last three races with consecutive victories and pole positions.

Five Key Pointers
- With a new race weekend format in place for this race, teams face difficult tests in terms of how to approach the weekend with FP2 on Saturday set to be largely focused on race simulations.
- Mercedes are set to bring an upgrade which looks like it needs to quickly reap maximum effect in FP1, especially with Qualifying taking place on Friday evening.
- Having finished in the top five in eight of nine races this season, McLaren’s Lando Norris face a tough test in terms of home pressure as he looks to deliver in front of home fans.
- After enduring two difficult Qualifying sessions in Austria, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon will be looking to rediscover his one lap spark on a track which could suit Alpine.
- After enjoying a huge step forward during the triple-header in France and Austria, Silverstone will be a huge test of whether Williams and George Russell are now firmly in the midfield mix.
Last Time Out
Lewis Hamilton recorded his seventh victory at this race in 2020 after taking a dominant victory, despite having to cling on at the very end following a last lap tyre failure to take the checkered flag ahead of Verstappen as Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz also suffered tyre failures in closing laps.
The Safety Car however was deployed twice following crashes for Kevin Magnussen and Daniil Kvyat, of which the Russian’s crash was caused by a puncture on entry to Maggots on lap 13.
