Wolves welcome Manchester United to Molineux on the final day of 2020-21 Premier League season.
Victory would see Wolves finish this season in 12th as the club prepares to say its farewell to manager – Nuno Espirito Santo, whereas Man Utd look to consolidate their runner-up position.
Team News
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report following Wednesday’s loss away at Everton.
Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee), Owen Otasowie (knock), Daniel Podence (adductor) and Raul Jimenez (head) remain ruled out.
Man Utd could welcome Daniel James back from an unspecified injury which had kept him out of their last five matches.
Fred and Scott McTominay (both knocks) are doubts but Harry Maguire (ankle), Anthony Martial and Phil Jones (both knee) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Wolves are unbeaten in four of their last five league meetings against Manchester United (W1, D3, L1).
- Man Utd have won two of their last five league visits to Molineux (W2, D1, L2).
- No Wolves player has won more aerial battles than Leander Dendoncker, who has won 85 aerial battles this season.
- Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood have both scored second half goals in two of Utd’s last three away league trips.
- Wolves have lost their only previous match this season refereed by Mike Dean, losing 1-0 to Aston Villa at home in December 2020.
Prediction
If Wolves are to give Nuno the perfect farewell in front of returning home fans, they will need a strong performance but poor finishing has often been the story of their season and they are in for a tricky battle against this Utd team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though will surely have one eye on Wednesday’s Europa League Final, so I am expecting him to rotate his Red Devils and perhaps give some academy players a run out which would suit Wolves because both teams have nothing to fight for.
On that note, I do hope that this is an entertaining clash but recent meetings have often been closely fought and I can’t see it being any other way here, although the home crowd should give Wolves a decent chance.
Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Manchester United
