BBC have announced their coverage details for Euro 2020 across multiple platforms across June-July 2021.
Gary Lineker will lead the broadcaster’s coverage with Gabby Logan, Eilidh Barbour and Mark Chapman also named as lead presenters of various matches.
Alan Shearer and Shelley Kerr headline a wide variety of English, Scottish and Welsh pundits, including Alex Scott, Micah Richards and Ashley Williams amongst other names.
BBC will also have three international pundits in form of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Jurgen Klinsmann, with all three bringing a mixture of international experience and opinion in how to win the tournament.
Chapman will headline BBC 5 Live’s coverage of every Euro 2020 match with Steve Crossman and Emma Saunders also named as lead hosts, whilst Chelsea Women’s Erin Cuthbert will join Karen Carney and James Collins amongst radio pundits.
The tournament opener between Turkey and Italy will be televised live on BBC One from 7pm on Friday 11 June, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm UK Time.
14 further matches will be televised on BBC One throughout the Group Stage, including Wales’ clashes against Switzerland and Turkey plus England’s opener against 2018 FIFA World Cup runner-up, Croatia, who knocked the Three Lions out in the semi-finals.
BBC One will also broadcast Scotland’s first appearance at the European Championship Finals since 1996, as Steve Clarke’s Tartan Army host Czech Republic at Hampden Park in a 2pm kick-off on Monday 14 June.
During the final round of group games, BBC will televise the most important games in groups B and F on BBC One, with the other game in both groups scheduled for broadcast on BBC Two.
BBC will also televise seven of the eight group matches to be played at 2pm UK Time, with the only exception being Ukraine vs North Macedonia which will be screened on ITV on Thursday 17 June.
Beyond the Group Stage, BBC will have first and second picks across the Round of 16 and Quarter Final stages, whilst securing second pick for the semi-finals as both broadcasters will air the Final live.
BBC’s televisual coverage will come from Media City, Salford, Manchester, as well as at UK based stadiums due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
There will also be various content across BBC’s digital platforms and Red Button, including Euro Rewind, which will relive classic matches from Euro 1996 and Euro 2016 across 7-8 June.
Regional Coverage
Wales and Scotland matches will have regional coverage tailored to each region, with Gabby Logan set to host Wales matches whilst Steve Crossman and Robbie Savage will be on commentary duty.
Ashley Williams and Mark Hughes will feature amongst Welsh pundits in regional coverage.
Comedian, Elis James will meanwhile present an one-off TV series titled ‘Football Nation’ in the build-up to tournament, looking back at various highs and lows of Welsh football from 19th century until now.
BBC Scotland will meanwhile broadcast the following shows during build-up and during the tournament itself:
- Mr Brown’s Boys – Look back at the last Scotland squad to reach a major tournament in 1998 FIFA World Cup
- Away with the Tartan Army – Countdown of Scotland’s best ten international matches.
- Scot Squad Euro Special – Comedy special of ‘Scot Squad’ based around Euro 2020.
- Scotland’s Football Jukebox – Look back at Scotland’s history of football songs.
- Ultimate Auld Enemy Showdown – Entertainment special in which Scottish and English teams do battle in a series of challenges.
- A View from the Euros – Alternative look at Euro 2020 across three episodes.
- Breaking the News: Euro Special – Panel based show celebrating the news surrounding Euro 2020.
