2020-21 Premier League: Week 35 – West Ham vs Everton

West Ham United welcome Everton to the London Stadium in a mouth-watering Super Sunday clash.

Victory for West Ham would see them stay fifth but move to within two points of fourth-placed Leicester.

Everton meanwhile will stay eighth with at least one point although a win would see them move to within a point of Tottenham, who currently occupy the Europa Conference League spot in seventh.

Club captain, Mark Noble is a doubt for West Ham with a calf strain which forced him to miss Monday’s comeback 2-1 win at Burnley.

Angelo Ogbonna (hamstring) is also considered a doubt as the pair face the possibility of joining Arthur Masuaku (knee) and Declan Rice (knee) on the sidelines.

Everton will be without James Rodriguez after the Colombian midfielder suffered a calf injury in warm-up ahead of last weekend’s loss to Aston Villa.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (foot) is set to return but Jean-Philippe Gbamin (knee) remains absent.

Prediction

Having come from behind to beat Burnley last Monday in a strong attacking display, West Ham now need to kick on if they’re to keep their top four dreams afloat following two contrasting results for Leicester and Chelsea earlier this weekend.

Everton meanwhile will be relieved to be on the road given their wretched home form, yet they do need to improve their defending and be more clinical up front if are to stand any chance of victory after a shaky display against Aston Villa last weekend.

On that note, I am hoping to see a decent contest here but losing Rodriguez to injury could well be the final blow for Everton’s European hopes if they’re not careful.

Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Everton

Result: West Ham 0-1 Everton
