Wolves welcome relegation battling Sheffield United to Molineux in Saturday Night Football.
Victory will move Wolves 15 points clear of the relegation zone, whereas Sheffield Utd must win to starve off confirmation of relegation and hope that if they lose then Newcastle don’t beat West Ham in the early kick-off.
Team News
Pedro Neto is ruled out for Wolves after suffering a knee injury in last weekend’s win at Fulham.
Willy Boly is in contention to start after recovering from Coronavirus but Jonny (knee), Ruben Neves (Coronavirus), Fernando Marcal (groin) plus Raul Jimenez (head) remain ruled out.
Sheffield Utd will be without Oli McBurnie after the Scottish international was ruled out until end of season with a stress fracture in his foot.
John Fleck (groin) is a doubt but Chris Basham (knock), Sander Berge (hamstring), Billy Sharp (muscle), Jack Robinson (foot) and Jack O’Connell (knee) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have avoided defeat in three of their last five meetings against Sheffield Utd (W2, D1, L2).
- Sheffield Utd have taken just four points from their last seven league trips to Molineux (D4, L3).
- Only one of Wolves’ 17 league goals at home this season have come from the penalty spot.
- Sheffield United have scored just three goals in seven away league games in 2021.
- Robert Jones is refereeing a Wolves game for the first time since March 2018, as the hosts thrashed Reading in their promotion sealing Championship campaign.
Prediction
Wolves were certainly made to work for their win at Fulham but they did lack end product to their dominance until Adama Traore delivered a clinical injury time winner, so I am hoping for a much sharper performance given Sheffield Utd’s attitude issues.
Speaking of the Blades, they just had a bad attitude throughout their home defeat to Arsenal and with relegation now all but confirmed, this has to be a turning point if they’re to give themselves any momentum heading into next season.
I however just don’t see that coming here if Wolves can turn up and deliver a clean performance with polished finishing, which should hopefully see them to a routine home win.
Prediction: Wolves 2-0 Sheffield United
Result: Wolves 1-0 Sheffield United
