2020-21 UEFA Europa League Quarter Finals: Second Leg – Slavia Prague vs Arsenal

Slavia Prague welcome Arsenal to Sinobo Stadium for the second leg of their Quarter-Final tie in 2020-21 UEFA Europa League.

With this tie locked at 1-1 after the first leg in London, Slavia Prague know that a goalless draw at minimum will see them through otherwise they will need to score at least twice to advance if the Gunners find the net.

Arsenal meanwhile must score to at least force extra time if finishes 1-1 after 90 minutes, although a win comfortably send them through whereas a high scoring draw of 2-2 or more would see them through on away goals.

Slavia Prague have no fresh injury concerns to report ahead of this match.

Ondrej Kudela (nose), Simon Deli (Coronavirus) and David Hovorka (knee) remain ruled out.

Arsenal expect to recall Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gambian international missed Sunday’s away Premier League win at Sheffield United through illness.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka (both knocks) are also expected to be available alongside Emile Smith Rowe, who sat out Sunday’s game with an ankle sprain.

Martin Odegaard (ankle), David Luiz and Kiernan Tierney (both knee) remain ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Slavia Prague are winless in three previous meetings against Arsenal (D2, L1).
  • Arsenal drew 0-0 in their only previous trip to Slavia Prague, which came in November 2007.
  • Nicolae Stanciu has scored in two of Slavia Prague’s last three home games in this season’s Europa League (W1, D2).
  • Mohamed Elneny has scored in two of Arsenal’s last three Europa League away games (W2, D1).
  • Cuneyt Cakir is yet to referee a Slavia Prague game in the Europa League this season, although he was in charge for Arsenal’s 3-1 away win over Benfica in Last 32.

Prediction

Having fought back for a vital away goal, Slavia Prague will definitely fancy their chances given their unbeaten home record this season in all competitions but they really do need to score first given the superior quality of Arsenal’s attack.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners meanwhile recovered from a scrappy showing in the first leg with a ruthless display at Sheffield Utd, in which they attacked en mass and repeatedly varied their creative build-ups to eventually claim a clinical win.

This first goal therefore is going to be crucial because if Slavia Prague get an early lead, they should have enough defensively to hold out and win this but I think Arsenal will continue their improved away form and find another win if can break the hosts down.

Prediction: Slavia Prague 1-2 Arsenal

Result: Slavia Prague 0-4 Arsenal (Arsenal win 5-1 on aggregate!!)
