Wales look to continue their bid to qualify for 2022 FIFA World Cup as they welcome Czech Republic to Cardiff City Stadium in Qualifying Group E.
Victory could see Wales improve to third if can win by four or more goals plus Belarus suffer defeat in Belgium.
Czech Republic meanwhile could stay top on goal difference from Belgium with a win.
Team News
Wales have no fresh injury concerns after Saturday’s friendly win over Mexico, with a full squad in contention.
Czech Republic also have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Belgium in Prague.
Stat Attack
- Wales are winless in three previous meetings against Czech Republic (D2, L1), although none of those meetings have come in World Cup competition.
- Czech Republic have kept clean sheets in both previous trips to Wales, drawing 0-0 on both occasions (D2).
- Wales have opened the scoring in their last nine matches in which they have scored.
- Czech Republic have failed to keep clean sheets in their last seven away matches in all competitions.
Prediction
Wales come into this match off the back of their first-ever win over Mexico in which they dug deep defensively against difficult opposition, whilst managing to find that clinical finish up front to snatch victory.
Czech Republic meanwhile matched Belgium for performance and spirit in what was a proper attacking contest between the two Group E favourites, but the big questions has to be how much of a physical toll was that game on this Czech Republic squad.
This though will certainly be an interesting contest because Wales’ friendly performance will give them confidence coming into this game, particularly defensively whereas Czech Republic will be keen to continue their momentum with another strong display because both teams cannot afford slip ups here.
I therefore wouldn’t be surprised if we see a third draw on Welsh soil between these two teams but if Czech Republic can continue to deliver waves of attacking threat, I think this will be an away win.
Prediction: Wales 0-1 Czech Republic
Result: Wales 1-0 Czech Republic
