Burnley welcome Arsenal to Turf Moor in a huge clash in the battles for survival and European football qualification.
Victory would lift Burnley up to 14th for at least a few hours whereas Arsenal can move above Aston Villa into ninth with a win.
Team News
Jack Cork is a doubt for Burnley after suffering a ‘tight hamstring’ in Wednesday’s draw against Leicester.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring) and Robbie Brady (ankle) will face late fitness tests but Ashley Barnes (thigh) remains absent.
Arsenal could be without Emile Smith Rowe after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury in Sunday’s win at Leicester.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have taken just four points from their last nine meetings against Arsenal (W1, D1, L7).
- Arsenal have dropped just two points in their last six trips to Turf Moor (W4, D2).
- Just one of 13 Premier League meetings between Burnley and Arsenal have finished goalless, which came at Turf Moor in February 2020.
- Burnley have scored in five of eight home games across all competitions in 2021, although they netted first in just one of those five matches in which they found the goal.
- Nicholas Pepe has scored three goals in his last four away appearances for Arsenal.
Prediction
After an awful display at Tottenham on Sunday, Burnley bounced back at home in midweek with a more typical attacking performance aided by the return of Chris Wood so should hopefully see further progress here if can improve defensively which has been their biggest issue lately.
Arsenal meanwhile looked much improved in their win at Leicester after an early defensive blunder with positive free-flowing attacking football, but they really need to carry that quality over into this game if are to realistically place themselves back in the hunt for European football qualification.
An away win therefore is my bet but if Burnley can nail their best defending then this should be a close contest, otherwise I can see an one-sided result coming.
Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Arsenal
Result: Burnley 1-1 Arsenal
