Aston Villa welcome Wolves to Villa Park in a tasty West Midlands derby in the Premier League.
Victory could see Villa climb as high as eighth if can win by at least four goals, whereas Wolves could go 11th with a win.
Team News
Villa have no fresh injury concerns to report after Wednesday’s narrow defeat away at Sheffield United.
Kortney Hause (foot), Jack Grealish (calf), Wesley (knee) and Matty Cash (hamstring) are still ruled out.
Wolves have no fresh injury issues after Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester City, as Fernando Marcal (muscle), Daniel Podence (adductor) and Raul Jimenez (head) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Aston Villa have taken seven points from their last five Premier League meetings against Wolverhampton Wanderers (W2, D1, L2).
- Wolves are unbeaten in four of their last five visits to Villa Park in the Premier League (W2, D2, L1).
- Both teams have scored in three of their last five meetings in all competitions.
- Villa’s Ollie Watkins has scored three goals in his last four home appearances at Villa Park.
- Two of Wolves’ four goals in their last three away matches have come from Ruben Neves.
Prediction
Villa seem to have dropped their consistency because they seem to vary from match to match which makes this game difficult to call, although they did deliver a great attacking display at Sheffield Utd in midweek yet poor finishing cost them.
Wolves meanwhile were handed a brutal run-around at Man City on Tuesday but managed to take their rare opportunities well, but that was a game they were always going to lose so I am expecting a more typical performance of recent weeks if can quickly re-establish their attacking quality.
This game is therefore a difficult one to call because Villa need to win to reignite their fading Europa League hopes, whereas Wolves look to be building form ready for next season after a rocky campaign so am going for a draw.
Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Wolves
Result: Aston Villa 0-0 Wolves
