Tottenham Hotspur welcome Wolfsberger to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the second leg of their Last 32 tie in 2020-21 UEFA Europa League.
Spurs romped to a comfortable 4-1 win in the first leg last week to put them all but virtually through to the next stage, meaning that Wolfsberger must score at least four goals without conceding to dump their hosts out.
Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns after Sunday’s Premier League defeat at West Ham as Serge Aurier (knock) and Giovani Lo Celso (thigh) remain absent.
Wolfsberger could welcome Mario Leitgeb back into the lineup after a muscle injury kept him out of the first leg, alongside Eliel Peretz who is still absent with his own muscle injury.
- Tottenham won their first-ever meeting against Wolfsberger, running out 4-1 winners in the first leg last Thursday.
- Wolfsberger are visiting England for the first time in all UEFA competitions
- Carlos Vinicius has scored three goals in Spurs’ last two home Europa League games.
Tottenham come into this game off the back of a disappointing performance at West Ham but with a 4-1 lead, Jose Mourinho can afford to rest players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min here and instead give fringe players plus some U21 squad members an opportunity here.
Wolfsberger meanwhile have it all to do but I think this is a game too far for them with the damage done in the first leg, so I expect them to come here and just give it their everything but I genuinely just don’t see them getting anything here despite Spurs’ poor home form in 2021.
This therefore should be a routine win but I just don’t see Tottenham firing on all cylinders here ahead of what could be a physical domestic encounter against Burnley on Sunday, especially with squad rotation likely on Mourinho’s mind given the hectic scheduling of this season.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Wolfsberger
Result: Tottenham 4-0 Wolfsberger (Tottenham win 8-1 on aggregate)
