Fulham host Sheffield United at Craven Cottage in a blockbuster relegation six pointer in Saturday Night Football.
Victory will see Fulham climb to within three points of safety, whereas Sheffield Utd can leapfrog West Brom into 19th with a win if the Baggies fail to win on Saturday afternoon at Burnley.
Team News
Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Burnley, as Aleksandar Mitrovic (Coronavirus) and Tom Cairney (knee) remain absent.
Sheffield Utd will be without John Fleck indefinitely after illness forced him to miss Monday’s defeat at West Ham, having needed a trip to hospital over the weekend.
John Egan (ankle) is ruled out and joins Sander Berge (hamstring), Jack Robinson (unspecified) and Jack O’Connell (knee) on the absentee list.
Stat Attack
- Fulham have lost one of three previous Premier League meetings against Sheffield United (W1, D1, L1).
- Sheffield Utd are winless in their last five league trips to Craven Cottage (D2, L3).
- In three previous Premier League meetings, Fulham have picked up six yellow cards to Sheffield Utd’s four.
- Chris Wilder’s Blades have conceded 11 goals and scored twice in four trips to London this season (L4).
- Fulham have netted just once in their last seven home games across all competitions (D3, L4).
Prediction
Fulham will be pleased with their two performances in the last week because they looked hungry for goals when pushing forward in a dominant display at Everton on Sunday, yet were made to work hard at Burnley on Wednesday for a point with the Clarets causing trouble through long ball passes.
Sheffield Utd meanwhile will be looking to atone for Monday’s thrashing at West Ham because their attack was on strong form but excellently kept out by Lukasz Fabianski, yet their defence was just woeful with literally zero man marking in build-up to all three of the Hammers’ goals.
On that note, Fulham surely have to relish this clash because if Alphonse Areola can keep the Blades’ attack out and their defence is still shambolic, I can see just one result coming here which would certainly deal a massive if not fatal blow to the visitors’ survival hopes.
Prediction: Fulham 2-0 Sheffield United
Result: Fulham 1-0 Sheffield United
