2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 30 – Wednesday

QPR welcome Brentford to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as the two West London rivals lock horns in a London derby.

Victory could see QPR climb to 16th, whereas Brentford can only reclaim top spot if they take a win here and Norwich fail to beat Coventry.

Lyndon Dykes is available for QPR after recovering from a concussion suffered during the Hoops’ last outing on 6 February in a narrow win over Blackburn.

Jordy De Wijs (calf), Tom Carroll, Charlie Owens and Luke Amos (all knee) remain ruled out.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns after Sunday’s shock home defeat to Barnsley, although Thomas Frank will rotate his squad.

Christian Norgaard, Pontus Jansson (both ankle), Emiliano Marcondes, Luka Racic (both back) and Shandon Baptiste (knee) remain absent.

Stat Attack

  • QPR have won just one of their last nine league meetings against Brentford (W1, D1, L7).
  • Brentford have taken just seven points from their last five league trips to QPR (W2, D1, L2).
  • QPR have won just one of their last six home games in all competitions (W1, L5).
  • Thomas Frank’s Bees haven’t failed to score in consecutive games since November when they claimed goalless draws either side of the international break.
  • 11 of Ivan Toney’s 23 league goals for Brentford this season have come away from the Brentford Community Stadium.

Prediction

QPR enter this match in strong form with four wins in their last five matches and should be fresh, after having had nearly two weeks off since their last match due to Saturday’s trip to Rotherham being postponed.

Brentford will be disappointed with Sunday’s shock defeat to Barnsley but the Tykes have often been a thorn in the Bees’ side in recent meetings, so Thomas Frank will definitely be looking to use this West London derby as an instant hit back opportunity.

Former Bees boss, Mark Warburton however is in charge of QPR so will be keen to cause a surprise result and condemn his old team to a second consecutive defeat, although I have a feeling that Brentford should scrape at least a point from this encounter.

Prediction: QPR 1-1 Brentford

Result: QPR 2-1 Brentford
