Brentford went top on Wednesday after recording a comeback 3-1 win at Reading, before seeing their 21 league game unbeaten run unexpectedly ended by a 2-0 home loss to Barnsley on Sunday.
Norwich consequently regained top spot ahead of Thomas Frank’s Bees by a single point, after Teemu Pukki scored twice in a 4-1 mauling of Stoke at Carrow Road.
Swansea remain in third despite seeing their trip to Sheffield Wednesday postponed due to a frozen pitch, as the Owls found themselves still sat third-bottom after defeating Wycombe 2-0 in midweek.
Ken Sema and Ismaila Sarr netted twice as Watford ran riot in a six goal routing of Bristol City at Vicarage Road, as Xisco’s Hornets stay fourth.
Veljko Paunovic’s Reading stayed fifth after following up Wednesday’s defeat to the Bees with a home loss against Millwall, as Alfa Semedo’s 30 yard opener was overturned by Matt Smith and Mason Bennett to give the Lions victory at the Madejski Stadium.

Down in the relegation zone, Birmingham remain second-bottom after falling to a narrow home defeat against Luton with Dan Potts scoring the Hatters’ winner from Harry Cornick’s long throw.
Wycombe bounced back from their midweek defeat at Hillsborough as they fought back from two goals down to stun Wednesday’s local rivals – Huddersfield in a five goal thriller, placing Gareth Ainsworth’s Chairboys ten points from safety.
Rotherham suffered defeat in midweek as Cardiff battled to a 2-1 win over the Millers with Joe Bennett’s late winner, before the Yorkshire side saw their clash against QPR on Saturday postponed due to a frozen pitch to leave them a point above the relegation zone.
Cardiff meanwhile followed up their midweek win with a 3-1 victory over Coventry on Saturday, in which Kieffer Moore netted a brace which saw the Bluebirds rise to seventh.
Elsewhere, Middlesbrough dropped to eighth after Neeskens Kebano’s first goal for the Teessiders failed to prevent defeat at Derby, as Lee Gregory’s header and Colin Kazim-Richards’ effort gave the Rams victory.
Finally, Adam Armstrong’s late first half penalty failed to prevent Blackburn suffering defeat in their Lancashire derby against Preston, as goals from Greg Cunningham and Liam Lindsay gave the Lilywhites victory at Ewood Park.
