Burnley welcome Aston Villa to Turf Moor in a midweek Premier League clash.
Victory could move Burnley closer towards safety although they will stay 15th even if take all three points, whereas Villa could go seventh with victory for at least a few hours.
Team News
Robbie Brady is a doubt for Burnley after a knock kept him out of Sunday’s FA Cup win at Fulham.
Charlie Taylor could also be in contention if he can recover from a hamstring injury in time.
Villa could welcome John McGinn back after the Scottish midfielder served an one match ban in Saturday’s league win over Newcastle.
Kortney Hause (foot) and Wesley (knee) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have drawn three of their last five meetings against Aston Villa (W1, D3, L1).
- Villa are unbeaten in three Premier League trips to Turf Moor (W1, D2).
- Sean Dyche’s Clarets has scored once in all three home Premier League matches against Villa.
- No English midfielder has provided more assists so far this season than Villa’s Jack Grealish, who has provided eight assists for his teammates.
- Ashley Barnes is the only Burnley player to have scored a league penalty this season.
Prediction
Burnley finally seem to have turned a corner with four goals and clean sheets in their last two matches, especially in terms of how they soaked up the pressure at Liverpool last Thursday before battering Fulham in a ruthless FA Cup display on Sunday.
Villa definitely don’t seem to have any post Coronavirus issues because after producing a gutsy performance at Manchester City last Wednesday, they were absolutely dominant on Saturday against a toothless Newcastle team in terms of attack and defending.
Last month’s meeting however finished goalless but if both teams turn up and continue to build on their improved performances, I can see a score draw coming here because it is hard to call this game given the quality across both clubs.
Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Aston Villa
Result: Burnley 3-2 Aston Villa
