2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 25 – Wednesday

Middlesbrough look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat on Saturday as they visit Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in Wednesday’s big Sky Bet Championship match.

Victory could lift Forest as high as 16thy whereas Boro look to regain seventh and move to within two points of the play-offs, should Brentford lose elsewhere to Luton.

Forest have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s home win over Millwall.

Middlesbrough could welcome Ashley Fletcher back from a hamstring injury which sidelined the striker since September.

Grant Hall (thigh) is absent along with Marcus Browne, who is ruled out until next season with a knee injury.

Prediction

Nottingham Forest delivered a strong performance in Saturday’s 3-1 routing of Millwall to continue their six match unbeaten run, especially as they had a nice energy to their attacking play with Sammy Ameobi in particular proving difficult to keep quiet.

Middlesbrough on the other hand were sluggish at times in their defeat to Birmingham which is probably down to a recent Coronavirus outbreak impacting some players, with Britt Assombalonga and Duncan Watmore initially on the bench before coming on to add extra attack without scoring.

Watmore and Assombalonga however surely have to start here to give Boro any chance at their bogey ground, because if not then I can see Boro enduring a tough night given their recent slip in away form because Forest currently have momentum plus home form in this fixture in their favour here.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Middlesbrough

Result: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Middlesbrough
