Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield in a blockbuster Super Sunday clash as both teams go toe-to-toe in the Premier League title race.
Victory could move Liverpool ahead of Utd and back onto the Premier League summit, whereas Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils can extend their lead over the Reds to six points with a win.
Team News
Joel Matip could return for Liverpool after recovering from an adductor injury.
Naby Keita (muscle), Diogo Jota, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk (all knee) remain absent.
Man Utd could be without Nemanja Matic as the Serbian midfielder struggles to recover from a groin injury.

Stat Attack
- Liverpool have lost just one of their last eight league meetings against Man Utd (W2, D5, L1).
- Man Utd are winless in their last four league trips to Anfield (D2, L2).
- There has been 16 red cards in 56 previous Premier League meetings between Liverpool and Man Utd, of which nine Red Devils were dismissed to Liverpool’s seven players.
- No Premier League midfielder has produced more through balls this season than Utd’s Bruno Fernandes, who has produced eight through balls.
- Liverpool have scored 34 of their 37 league goals from inside the box this season.
Prediction
After hitting a rut in their last few league games which culminated in a wasteful performance at Southampton two weeks ago, Liverpool have to genuinely turn up with their foot on the gas for 90 minutes if want to deliver.
Man Utd meanwhile put in a fairly scrappy performance at Burnley on Tuesday despite dominating, with the end product missing to many shots which will be a worry because Liverpool will certainly pose a tougher test in terms of escaping unscathed from mistakes and wasted shots.
Add in the tension of both teams going for the title and Utd unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 domestic matches across three competitions, this will certainly be a cracking encounter but Jurgen Klopp’s decision to field a strong team at Aston Villa in the FA Cup might of just revitalised the Reds.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United
Result: Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United
