West Bromwich Albion have signed Robert Snodgrass from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.
Snodgrass has signed a 18 month contract at The Hawthorns, which sees the Scottish winger join the Baggies until June 2022.
Speaking on his decision to sign for West Brom, Snodgrass said that he is “up for the fight” and looking for regular game time, after making just six appearances for West Ham this season
West Brom however sit second bottom in the Premier League and six points from safety, which is something that Snodgrass is aware of, saying; “It’s going to be a tough ask because of the position we are in, but I firmly believe we can do it.”
The 33 year-old also stated belief that the Baggies “… are probably looking for that one win to then be able to go and kick on.”
Snodgrass has made 586 appearances in total for eight different clubs with the winger still believing that he has the quality needed to help the youngsters, saying; “… I believe I can offer little points here and there to some of the lads with my experience.”
Some current West Brom players including Jake Livermore and Grady Diangana however are known to Snodgrass, with the Scottish international “excited” to meet his new teammates of whom he has ever played with before and hopes to “… play my part to bring the lads together.”
West Brom manager, Sam Allardyce is “delighted” to sign Snodgrass, stating that the 26 time Premier League goalscorer will add top flight “experience” and “quality” to the team.
Allardyce in particular was drawn to Snodgrass’ left-footed ability, saying; “He’s left-footed. We all look for balance. When you get the right balance in the team with left-footed players, they can really produce for you down that left side.”
Snodgrass will also bring versatility in terms of being able to play in central midfield as well as on the flanks, with Allardyce commenting that he has heard various reports that Snodgrass “is exceptional in the dressing room” which Allardyce believes is of benefit to the club.
