Leicester City have announced that Jonny Evans has signed a contract extension keeping him at the King Power Stadium until June 2023.

Evans has made 89 appearances for Leicester in all competitions since joining the club in Summer 2018 after Midlands rivals, West Bromwich Albion were relegated.

Speaking to LCFC TV on his decision to stay with the Foxes, Evans said; “I’m delighted to commit myself to the Club, and delighted the Club have committed themselves to me.”

Evans also spoke of his passion for the club since joining two-and-a-half years ago, saying; “I’ve loved it here since the first day I came in. It’s a great atmosphere around the place and it’s a Club with a lot of ambition.”

One important aspect which impressed Evans is the club’s transfer decisions, as the experienced 32 year-old said; “The players are ambitious and the signings that they’ve made over the years, they’ve signed young, hungry players and it’s been great for me to come in alongside that and be a part of it.”

Evans previously was part of Manchester United where he won 10 trophies including four Community Shields, three Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup in 196 appearances, prior to joining West Brom.

The 32 year-old was also part of the Northern Ireland squad that reached Euro 2016, before missing out on a second consecutive finals appearance after losing their Qualifying Play-Off to Slovakia after extra-time in November, with Evans collecting over 80 international caps in 14 years.
