2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 19 – Tuesday

Watford welcome Brentford to Vicarage Road in Tuesday’s huge Sky Bet Championship clash.

If Bournemouth lose to Wycombe, victory will take Watford up to second for at least 21 hours with Swansea and Reading not in action until Wednesday evening.

Brentford meanwhile can leapfrog the Hornets with a win and temporarily climb up to third.

Will Hughes is set for his first start of this season for Watford after making substitute appearances in recent weeks, although he was snubbed from Saturday’s team sheet in the Hornets’ win at Birmingham City.

Andre Gray could also feature after being named as an unused sub on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring injury, whereas Craig Cathcart (hamstring), Tom Dele-Bashiru (knee) and Isaac Success (Achilles) remain sidelined.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s win at Nottingham Forest, as Christian Norgaard (ankle), Mads Roerlsav (foot) and Shandon Baptiste (knee) remain ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Watford are unbeaten in their last 16 matches against Brentford in all competitions (W11, D5).
  • Brentford have won just one of their last 21 trips to Vicarage Road (W1, D8, L12).
  • Watford have won each of their last three clashes against Brentford by 2-1 results.

Watford seem very comfortable at home this season with just one home loss in which marked the only time they failed to score at Vicarage Road, which is a huge positive coming into this clash against an attacking Brentford team who will definitely provide the Hornets with a real test.

Speaking of Brentford, they are unbeaten in their last 11 matches but have often found themselves held with three of their last four draws being goalless although I do expect them to deliver a tough contest given Watford’s home form and a point wouldn’t be a bad result.

This therefore could range from a damp squib goalless affair to a high scoring thriller but the Bees’ away form at Watford is extremely poor which is a worry, although I can see them somehow snatching a point here.

Prediction: Watford 1-1 Brentford

Result: Watford 1-1 Brentford
