2020-21 Premier League: Week 12 – Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur

Crystal Palace welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Selhurst Park in a cross-London derby in the second of five Super Sunday matches from the Premier League.

Palace could temporarily enter the top ten with victory, whereas Tottenham could need a win to return to the Premier League summit if Chelsea beat Everton on Saturday night,

Tyrick Mitchell is a doubt for Crystal Palace after skipping Friday’s training session with a “slight cold.”

Martin Kelly (calf) is ruled out alongside Nathan Ferguson (knee), Wayne Hennessey and Connor Wickham who are sidelined with thigh injuries.

Tottenham could welcome Serge Aurier back from a knock which saw the fullback sit out Thursday’s Europa League win over Royal Antwerp.

Erik Lamela (foot) remains absent but is expected to return later this month.

Prediction

Palace produced a superb second half display to comfortably dispatch a ten-man West Brom after finding themselves held in a scrappy first-half, despite the Baggies playing the last 15 minutes of that period with ten players so expect to see Palace continue to pose their usual attacking unpredictability here.

Tottenham meanwhile delivered a defensive masterclass in soaking up pressure from Arsenal before hitting on the counter and although I would expect to see more attacking intent here, I feel that those tactics could well suit them here against this dangerous Palace team as Newcastle deployed to great effect in the Eagles’ last home outing.

Either way, this is going to be a cracking tie given the attacking quality possessed by both teams this season but Spurs do have that better defending aspect, so I am going for a narrow away win given Palace’s poor form in this fixture.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
