Celtic welcome Lille to Celtic Park in their final Group H match of this season’s UEFA Europa League.
Celtic are already eliminated and will finish bottom of the group whilst Lille will top the group with victory, although a draw or defeat would require AC Milan to not better their result.
Nir Bitton, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Olivier Ntcham are all major doubts for Celtic with unspecified injuries.
James Forrest (ankle) and Mikey Johnston (knee) are still absent for Neil Lennon’s Hoops.
Lille will be without Luiz Araujo, Zeki Celik, Jeremy Pied and Renato Sanches due to unspecified injuries.
Xeka, Benjamin Andre, Sven Botman and Domagoj Bradaric meanwhile could be rested with the quartet all one booking away from an one match ban.
- Celtic are unbeaten against Lille after just one meeting after both teams played out a 2-2 draw in France at end of October.
- Lille are playing their first-ever away match against Scottish opposition in all UEFA competitions.
- Celtic have never lost four consecutive home matches across all UEFA competitions.
With Neil Lennon’s Hoops already eliminated and continuously struggling defensively in all competitions, this is a good chance to hand fringe players rare starts whilst experimenting because there isn’t anything to lose here other than pride and an unwanted new European record in terms of four consecutive home defeats.
Lille meanwhile are safely through but will be keen to progress as group winners so I am expecting a strong attacking performance from them and with Celtic set to field a much changed team, I can see a comfortable away win coming.
Prediction: Celtic 0-2 Lille.
Result: Celtic 3-2 Lille
