2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 16 – Saturday

Brentford welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Brentford Community Stadium in Saturday’s mouth-watering big clash in Sky Bet Championship.

A win will put Brentford up into second ahead of Saturday afternoon’s matches whilst Blackburn could climb as high as third with victory if those above them all lose.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns after Tuesday’s win over Rotherham with Christian Norgaard (ankle), Mads Roerlsav (foot) and Shandon Baptiste (knee) still absent.

Blackburn could be without Barry Douglas due to a muscle injury after missing their win over Millwall in midweek.

Lewis Travis (knee) and Elliott Bennett (ankle) are still sidelined.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have taken just five points from their last eight meetings against Blackburn (W1, D2, L5).
  • Blackburn are visiting the Brentford Community Stadium for the first time, but are unbeaten in their last four visits to the Bees (W2, D1, L1).
  • Brentford and Blackburn’s top league goalscorers this season – Ivan Toney and Adam Armstrong have netted 27 goals between them with Armstrong scoring 14 goals to Toney’s 13 as the pair lead the goal stats.

Brentford come into this match high on confidence after avoiding defeat in their last eight matches and one conceded goal in their last five, with Ivan Toney proving particularly difficult to quieten which is something that Blackburn have to be wary of.

Rovers however do boast the league’s top scorer in Adam Armstrong and were the highest scoring club coming into this weekend, so will pose issues of their own for Brentford’s defence given how cohesive their team plays with midfield providing a variety of attacking options.

This therefore could go either way depending on how both teams have recovered from their midweek outings but I am going for a thriller here.

Prediction: Brentford 2-2 Blackburn Rovers

Result: Brentford 2-2 Blackburn Rovers
