Tottenham Hotspur look to boost their knockout qualification hopes as they welcome Ludogorets Razgrad to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Group J of 2020-21 UEFA Europa League Group Stage.
Victory will see Tottenham stay top of group and a draw between Antwerp and LASK would see Ludogorets eliminated, whereas defeat could see Spurs slip to third whilst Ludogorets will register their first points in this group but remain bottom.
Harry Winks could be available for Tottenham after sitting out Saturday’s win over Manchester City with a minor injury.
Japhet Tanganga (thigh) could also return but Erik Lamela (foot) is unlikely to be risked ahead of Sunday’s London derby against Chelsea, whilst Matt Doherty (Coronavirus) and Toby Alderweireld (adductor) are ruled out.
Ludogorets will be without Olivier Verdon and Georgi Terziev after the defenders both tested positive for Coronavirus and are joined on the sidelines by Josue Sa and Kiril Despodov who both have unspecified injuries.
- Tottenham won their only previous meeting against Ludogorets Razgrad, defeating the Bulgarian team 3-1 in Razgrad three weeks ago.
- Ludogorets have lost each of their two previous away matches against English opposition (L2), losing 8-1 on combined aggregate from defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal in September 2014 and October 2016 respectively.
- Lucas Moura has scored once in each of Spurs’ two home Europa League matches so far this season (W2), with both goals coming in the first half.
Tottenham were absolutely brilliant on Saturday in terms of soaking up constant pressure from Man City and hitting them on the counter but against Ludogorets, I do expect to see Tottenham deliver a more typical attacking performance because there is no reasons to deploy the counter-attack tactics here.
Ludogorets also are yet to avoid defeat on English soil with two bruising defeats so even with squad rotation, this should be a routine home win for Spurs if can quickly rediscover their typical sharp attacking style.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Ludogorets Razgrad
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Ludogorets Razgrad
