Bristol City welcome Watford to Ashton Gate in Wednesday’s big Sky Bet Championship clash.
Dean Holden’s Robins can stay third with victory whilst Watford could rise up to third with a win if Swansea fail to beat Sheffield Wednesday at home.
Han-Noah Massengo could return for Bristol City after sitting out Saturday’s win over Derby through illness.
Alfie Mawson, Andreas Weimann, Joe Williams (all knee), Liam Walsh (quad), Steven Sessegnon and Nathan Baker (both hamstring) are sidelined.
Watford could be without Christian Kabasele and Tom Cleverly after the pair missed Saturday’s draw at QPR with knocks.
Stipe Perica could also return after missing the Hornets’ last five matches with an arm injury but Will Hughes (fitness) is ruled out.
- Bristol City are unbeaten in four of last five league meetings against Watford (W2, D2, L1), with both draws finishing in 2-2 results.
- Watford are unbeaten in five of their last six trips to Ashton Gate (W2, D3, L1).
- Only one of last six league meetings failed to see both teams score, with the Robins losing 2-0 at Vicarage Road in February 2010.
After hitting a rut in mid October, Bristol City have bounced back strongly even if they have had to dig deep at times to eke out wins in their last two outings.
Watford meanwhile made an excellent start at QPR but simply came up against a stubborn QPR team who were solid defensively before turning the screws to snatch a hard-earned point, which highlights that finishing is still an issue for Watford irrespective of whoever is up front.
On that note, Bristol City need to make a strong solid start because if Watford get on the front foot with an early goal then I can see them pushing the Robins to their limits although finishing will be key to the result, whereas if City can start well then I can see them causing issues and snatching a point here.
Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Watford
Result: Bristol City 0-0 Watford
