2020-21 Premier League: Week Eight – West Brom vs Tottenham Hotspur

West Bromwich Albion welcome Tottenham Hotspur to The Hawthorns in the first of Super Sunday’s quadruple header.

Victory could lift West Brom out of the relegation zone if Fulham fail to beat West Ham on Saturday evening, whereas Tottenham could at least temporarily go top of the Premier League with a win.

Dara O’Shea could feature for West Brom after skipping Monday’s defeat at Fulham as he continues to rebuild his match fitness following a recent ankle injury.

Hal Robson-Kanu (elbow) and Sam Field (knee) remain absent.

Tottenham will have Serge Aurier and Sergio Reguilon available after the pair sat out Thursday’s Europa League away win at Ludogorets Razgrad for fitness reasons.

Erik Lamela will miss this match with a foot injury, thus joining Japhet Tanganga (thigh) on the sidelines.

Prediction

West Brom were simply a defensive shambles at Fulham on Monday whilst their attacking was marginally better yet lacked any real sharpness and clinical finishing, so they better show up and deliver a more convincing performance otherwise Tottenham will be relishing the opportunities heading their way with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in form.

Spurs however were made to work hard against Brighton last weekend but absolutely delivered a dominant Europa League win away at Ludogorets Razgrad on Thursday despite failing to make plenty of their shots count, which is clearly of concern to Jose Mourinho judging by his latest Instagram post in which he hinted that although they played well, there is still room for improvement.

Well Mourinho is definitely right because Tottenham really should be scoring more than what they’re currently doing and with West Brom currently in poor form, I can see a strong win heading Spurs’ way if they can take full advantage clinically.

Prediction: WBA 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: WBA 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur
