Cardiff City welcome Bristol City to the Cardiff City Stadium in Friday Night Football from the Sky Bet Championship.
Cardiff can climb to eighth with victory whilst Bristol City look to go second until at least Saturday teatime if they can take a win here in the first Severnside derby of this season.
Team News
Cardiff have no fresh injury concerns to report after their midweek win over Barnsley.
Greg Cunningham, Jordi Osei-Tutu (both hamstring) and Lee Tomlin (groin) remain absent.
Bristol City will hand Tyreeq Bakinson a late fitness test after missing their midweek win at Huddersfield with a headache.
Alfie Mawson, Andreas Weimann, Joe Williams (all knee), Liam Walsh (quad), Steven Sessegnon and Nathan Baker (both hamstring) are sidelined.
Stat Attack
- Cardiff have won three of last five meetings against Bristol City (W3, L2).
- Bristol City have won one of their last 12 trips to Cardiff (W1, D2, L9).
- Each of last three meetings have been settled by one goal results, with Cardiff winning two of those three occasions to Bristol City’s one.
Prediction
After a slow start, Cardiff have finally found some momentum but have drawn four of their last seven of which three were 1-1 draws, which is a slight worry because the Bluebirds are capable of scoring twice in yet poor finishing and defensive errors are costing them.
Saying that, they were just excellent in controlling their midweek win over Barnsley but the task now is to take that newfound confidence into this game because Bristol City look like they’ve dropped confidence defensively in recent matches amidst an injury crisis.
The Robins however are still capable of causing issues when on the attack so I am hoping that this game is a good scrappy affair but given Cardiff’s form, I expect them to edge this somehow.
Prediction: Cardiff 1-0 Bristol City
Result: Cardiff 0-1 Bristol City
