2020-21 Premier League: Week Seven – Leeds United vs Leicester City

Leeds United welcome Leicester City to Elland Road in a tasty Monday Night Football clash between two teams who are looking to challenge for European placings.

Victory could send Leeds as high as third whilst Leicester can go second with a win.

Liam Cooper is set to be available for Leeds after recovering from a groin injury which has kept him out of their last two matches.

Kalvin Phillips (shoulder), Gaetano Berardi (knee), Adam Forshaw (hip) and Diego Llorente (groin) remain absent.

Leicester will be without Timothy Castagne until after the international break after the Belgian suffered a hamstring injury which kept him out of Thursday’s Europa League win at AEK Athens.

Jonny Evans (back) could return whilst Ricardo Pereira remains absent with a knee injury despite travelling to Athens as part of his first-team reintegration rehab programme, meaning that Pereira is joined on the sidelines again by Caglar Soyuncu (muscle), Daniel Amartey (hamstring) and Wilfred Ndidi (adductor).

Stat Attack

Prediction

Leeds produced an impressive attacking performance last time out to comfortably defeat Aston Villa with Patrick Bamford in particular pressing hard and putting himself in the right places to finish chances, which is going to be key here against a strong Leicester team.

Leicester meanwhile have produced contrasting performances in their last three matches across all competitions because in the Europa League, they showed dominant attacking intent, yet were able to play on the counter at Arsenal last Sunday where they won with a clinical break.

It is therefore difficult to predict which tactics Leicester will deploy against Leeds who will likely try to impose their attacking style early, and if they do then this could be a great nervy corker which should end in a score draw.

Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Leicester
