2020-21 Premier League: Week Seven – Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in this weekend’s Super Sunday Night Football.

Should Villa and Everton both lose earlier in the day, a win could send Tottenham second, whilst Brighton could go as high as 14th if Newcastle and Manchester United both lose.

Tanguy Ndombele could feature for Tottenham after sitting out their Europa League defeat at Royal Antwerp on Thursday with muscle fatigue.

Japhet Tanganga remains absent with a thigh injury.

Brighton could welcome Davy Propper and Christian Walton back into the squad after the pair missed last Monday’s draw against West Bromwich Albion, after failing fitness tests on respective calf and ankle injuries but both players remain close to a first-team return.

Lewis Dunk (suspension), Florian Andone, Jose Izquierdo (both knee) and Alireza Jahanbakhsh (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Prediction

After Thursday’s woeful defending at Royal Antwerp and particularly down the flanks where they were ripped to shreds, Tottenham have to simply turn up and deliver an improved performance with an aggressive reaction which Jose Mourinho will expect otherwise Brighton could sniff a shot at victory here.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls however boast defensive issues of their own because they keep dropping points through silly mistakes at the rear, despite continuously improving up front in terms of creativity and chances upon goal.

Tottenham do however boast a strong partnership in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min although not even they could save Spurs’ blushes in Belgium, even though I do think that they might just make the difference here.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Brighton

Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Brighton
