2020-21 Carabao Cup Round Three: Millwall vs Burnley

Millwall look to cause another cupset against Premier League opposition as they welcome Burnley to The Den in a mouth-watering Third Round clash of this season’s Carabao Cup.

The winner of this tie will host either Manchester City or Bournemouth in the Fourth Round next week.

Millwall have no fresh injury concerns with Frank Fielding their only absentee as he continues his lengthy recovery from an arm injury sustained last August.

Burnley could be without Robbie Brady after the winger limped off with a rib injury in Sunday’s loss at Leicester, with Sean Dyche set to rotate his squad.

Ashley Barnes (fitness) and James Tarkowski (toe) however could be available for selection if pass late fitness checks but Johann Berg Gudmundsson (knee), Ben Mee (thigh) and Jack Cork (ankle) remain absent.

Prediction

With a small squad and having tasted defeat in a physical battle at Leicester on Sunday, Burnley could find themselves in for another tough battle because Millwall do have cup pedigree against top flight opposition lately, albeit in FA Cup which offers Dyche’s Clarets hope here.

Millwall however haven’t exactly been firing on all cylinders yet this season so if Burnley can strike early then sit back and soak up the pressure, this could be an away win otherwise I can see the Lions somehow finding their way past this tough Clarets defence given their recent poor record against lower league opposition.

Prediction: Millwall 1-0 Burnley

Result: Millwall 0-2 Burnley
