2020-21 Premier League: Week Two – Leicester City vs Burnley

Leicester City welcome Burnley to King Power Stadium in the concluding Super Sunday clash live on BBC One in primetime.

A win for Leicester will ensure they remain in the top four after this weekend’s fixtures although a two goal victory margin will send them top of the league, whilst Burnley will put themselves mid-table if they avoid defeat after their opening game last weekend was postponed.

Wes Morgan is available for Leicester after recovering from a hamstring injury picked up during pre-season.

Jonny Evans (suspension), Ricardo Pereira (knee) and Fillip Benkovic (hip) remain absent.

Burnley could be without James Tarkowski after a bruised toe kept him out of their Carabao Cup victory over Sheffield United in midweek.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson suffered a knee injury during that match and is ruled out alongside Ben Mee (thigh), Ashley Barnes (fitness) and Jack Cork (ankle).

Prediction

Leicester were excellent last weekend at West Brom in terms of dominance in and out of possession but to repeat that performance will be a tough ask, especially against a stern Burnley defence who know how to trouble big teams who are having an off day.

Burnley delivered a solid fightback to defeat Sheffield United in their Carabao Cup clash which should stand them in good stead given that their opening fixture last weekend was postponed, yet they still have a right winger issue now Aaron Lennon has been released which could point towards a formation change from traditional 4-4-2 tactics.

This fixture has also often been closely fought in recent clashes but if Burnley opt for a new formation then I think we are in for an intriguing match with pressure on Leicester to deliver, whilst the Clarets potentially adapt to a change in tactics plus their midfield is missing Cork and Gudmundsson which will hurt them creatively.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Burnley

Result: Leicester City 4-2 Burnley
